Secretary of State for Transport, Alistair Darling, today attended the official ceremony to mark the first phase of opening for the M6Toll.

Less Than 10 Weeks Until M6toll Opens to Traffic


After more than 23 years of planning and preparation, the M6toll is on schedule to open to traffic within ten weeks, Midland Expressway Limited (MEL), the company in charge of the design, construction and operation of the road, confirmed today (November 18).

Prices Announced for Britain's First Tolled Motorway


Midland Expressway has announced the standard charge for car drivers will be £3 at launch. The first 10 million vehicles to use the new M6toll will benefit from a discount of £1 off standard day and night toll except for vehicles joining at Langley Mill. A minimum toll of 50p applies to all vehicles day or night.
