M6toll extends free travel offer for coaches which stop at services

The original offer, launched in March, enabled coach drivers who took their passengers for a break at the M6toll's RoadChef motorway service area at Norton Canes to have free passage on the 27-mile motorway.

Now, as well as at Norton Canes, coaches which stop with their passengers at RoadChef's motorway services at Sandbach and Stafford on the M6 or at Watford Gap on the M1, will also be given vouchers for free journeys on the toll road.

The extended promotion, run jointly by M6toll operator Midland Expressway Limited (MEL) and RoadChef, is for a limited period. It will save each coach a £6 toll at current prices and £7 when new prices come into effect on 14 June.

Tom Fanning, managing director of MEL, said: "Hundreds of coach drivers have already taken advantage of the offer and discovered the ease, convenience and reliability of our world-class motorway.

"We're pleased to continue the offer and to extend it to include three other RoadChef motorway services so that even more coach operators will benefit."

Martin Grant, chief executive of RoadChef, said: "This joint promotion is a great success with coach operators and their passengers and we're delighted it is being extended.

"Coach companies have told us that their schedules do not always allow them to stop at Norton Canes. We have listened to their views and increased the number of sites where they can collect free travel vouchers in order to give them more flexibility."

The initiative is part of a drive to raise awareness of the motorway which is currently the route of choice for more than 46,000 vehicles daily.

For those occasions when coaches do not wish to stop at the services or are not carrying passengers, another option is to open a Tag account, the electronic payment system which allows drivers to cruise through dedicated Tag Lanes without having to stop.

Tag holders get a five per cent discount on each journey they make.

Notes to Editors to include this additional information.

The offer is for coaches with passengers only. The voucher issued from the RoadChef services at Norton Canes on the M6toll, at Sandbach on the M6, Stafford services on the M6 and at Watford Gap services on the M1 is valid for one journey only on the day it is received. It must be presented at an attended toll booth with the driver's name and company details completed. Photocopied, damaged, illegible or defaced vouchers are invalid.

RoadChef Motorways Ltd reserves the right to vary the promotion or to cease issuing vouchers without notice.
