MEL are proud to support Holly Grove Primary School in Burntwood

All of the children will benefit from the funds which will be used to help support an after school cookery club, develop an outdoor garden/quiet area and go towards the costs of a new reading scheme in Year 2.

Children from the nursery class through to Year 2, had the opportunity to take a look at one of MEL's Incident Support Units (a large yellow truck) and learned about the daily duties of the Motorway Operatives.

This donation forms part of a wider initiative to support local schools and child focused sports clubs.

Tom Fanning, CEO of MEL added: "we are very pleased to support Holly Grove Primary School and I am sure the children will greatly benefit from the additional activities and equipment.  I am particularly interested in the after school cookery club and I just hope the children bake a few extra cakes for me!  Who knows, we could be nurturing the next Jamie Oliver!

"The school is close to the heart of our own Mick Deakin (Control Room Operator), as his own daughters were once pupils and his wife currently works at the school.  MEL are looking at similar opportunities to support the youth of Staffordshire and this is a golden opportunity to make a difference, particularly when a member of our staff is involved."

"Especially during the Winter months, we would urge our customers to ensure that the vehicles are in good working order and fuelled.  Customers on the M6toll can be rest assured that should the unfortunate event occur where they are involved in an incident or breakdown, our Incident Support Units patrol the motorway 24/7 and provide immediate support by way of arranging breakdown recovery, fuel to get you on your way, support and advice or simply a hot drink."
