M6toll announces new toll schedule

The summary of the new schedule is as follows:

  • Increase of 30 pence for Weekday Mainline Day Class 2 (Car) to £5.00
  • Increase of 60 pence for Weekday Mainline Day Class 3 - 5 to £9 - £10
  • Freeze on Weekday Mainline Day Class 1 rates
  • Freeze on all rates during Nights; Ramps and weekends
  • Tag discount of 5% on each transaction

Toll changes are restricted to main toll plaza weekday rates and are inclusive of the new VAT rates as introduced in January 2010. Both the night rate and weekend rates at main toll plazas and all rates at local junction toll plazas remain unchanged.

Tag account holders enjoy the benefit of a 5% discount on each trip. The M6toll's dedicated tag lanes at all Plazas ensure that customers can make their journey even more efficient. By opening a tag account customers can cruise through the lanes without stopping. Tag accounts can be opened for a monthly lease fee of only £1.00 per Tag.

Tom Fanning, CEO of Midland Expressway Limited, said ""The M6toll opened in late 2003, and still remains the most reliable route through the West Midlands. The announced 2010 tolling programme will allow further investment in delivering an excellent driving experience for the reliable journey on which our customers depend. The M6toll remains excellent value for money to avoid the congested M6.

We continue to offer all customers a 5% discount per trip through the use of an electronic tag. With this, a £5.00 trip would cost only £4.75. For all these reasons, the M6toll is recognised as a world class motorway."
