Children’s Primary School Projects in Lichfield get cash boost!

Local Primary Schools in Lichfield get a welcome financial boost to school projects thanks to the generosity of Midland Expressway Limited (MEL); operators of the M6toll road.

Staff and children at Christ Church Primary School, St Chad's Primary School and Whittington Primary School in Lichfield were all visited by representatives from Midland Expressway Ltd and each awarded with a cheque for £2000 after successfully submitting an application to MEL's Primary School Scheme which thoroughly detailed how much the grant would mean to all the children.

Whittington Primary School detailed how they wished to use the funding for a Forest School Setting, whilst Christ Church described how the use of 6 i-pads would benefit their pupils. St Chads also wished to use the funding on IT equipment such as Raspberry Pi and Pi Face interface boards along with 4GB SD cards which would be used to develop the children's computing skills.

All primary schools located within a 5 mile radius of the M6toll corridor were contacted by the Foundation and encouraged to apply for a grant worth £2000. As part of the application process, all qualifying primary schools were asked to provide the Foundation with details as to a future school project which the Foundation could fund to be delivered during the academic year 2013-2014.

Tom Fanning, Chief Executive of MEL said: "Our business is located within the County and we wish to play our part in nurturing and creating opportunity for our young people to develop their talents and for them in turn to give back to the region once they have completed their education".
