Burntwood Girl Guides receive welcome donation from M6toll

Midland Expressway Limited (MEL), operators of the M6toll, kindly donated £250 to the Girl Guides Senior Section located in Burntwood which will go towards funding outdoor activities.

Girlguiding Staffordshire has over 9,400 members from aged 5 upwards. Thanks to the dedication and support of their amazing volunteers, they are active in nearly every town and village in the county, giving girls and young women a space where they can be themselves, have fun, build brilliant friendships, gain valuable life skills and make a positive difference to their lives and their communities.

On top of this the girls who volunteer to be a ranger or a young leader can work towards a variety of awards and qualifications. They also work closely with the international team, which offer them many overseas opportunities each year. The development of this group is vital to the future of the movement, the Senior Section Team is working extremely hard to develop and raise the profile of this section within the county.

Donna McKeon, Leader in Attendance said: “1st Chase Terrace Senior Section are delighted to have been selected by MEL’s Social Committee as a beneficiary of their charitable donations, which will help towards the weekly expense of running our unit and to assist us funding our outdoor expeditions.”

Michelle Smith, MEL Customer Accounts Administrator added “I was thrilled that our Social Committee recognised my volunteering with Girlguiding and agreed to make a donation to the Senior Section which will enable us to celebrate their centenary and participate in an activity weekend."
