M6toll bounces into Tamworth Olympic Gymnastics Club

Staff from Midland Expressway Ltd (MEL) visited Tamworth Olympic Gymnastics Club recently to present them with a cheque for £500 towards specialist gymnastic equipment.

The club was founded in 1982 and has provided gymnastic coaching to thousands of children within Staffordshire and the surrounding areas.  Their aim is to provide opportunities for males and females, young and old to enjoy physical activity through Gymnastics, offering a variety of classes to suit everyone’s needs and abilities.

To assist the club with their ongoing commitment to young people MEL, operators of the M6toll have kindly donated £500 which will go towards funding foam blocks and ramps to maintain the youngster’s interest and encourage freedom of expression.

Bev Mason, MEL Toll Assistant said: “the club is very close to my heart as my eight year old grand-daughter, Tegan Massey has been a member for over a year and my daughter, Lyssa Massey is one of the coaches.  I was delighted to hear that our Social Committee had agreed to support the club following my recommendation.  MEL are extremely keen on supporting projects in which the local community can benefit.”

Lawrence Brazier added:  “We currently have a long waiting list of local budding gymnasts wishing to join our club and with this in mind we are looking at extending our facility into the adjacent unit here on Lichfield Road Industrial Estate.  It is valuable funding such as this from MEL which enables us to continue to provide the best equipment for our youngsters and we are extremely grateful.”

This donation forms part of a wider initiative to support local schools and community projects.

MEL's Social Committee will be working closely with members of staff to choose those community projects close to their hearts which will benefit from a donation from the remaining £20,000 Drive for Charity fund over the next 12 months.

MEL's Social Committee is always on the lookout for local charities and community projects to support.
