M6toll proud to support eighth annual Ride to the Wall

Midland Expressway Limited (MEL) are again showing their support of the annual Ride to the Wall by providing free passage to all riders on Saturday 3rd October.

Riders will be granted free passage on their inbound journey only when exiting the M6toll at T4 (Weeford). Signage will be in place directing riders at the toll plazas.

The event raises considerable funds for the National Memorial Arboretum, part of The Royal British Legion family of charities, which provides a permanent home to the Armed Forces Memorial. Many thousands of motorcyclists from around the country are expected to take part; setting off from eleven different starting points and assembling all together at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.

Since the first ride in 2008, the event has raised in excess of £410,000 for the National Memorial Arboretum, with individuals and groups from 64 different owners groups and motorcycle clubs taking part.

James Hodson, MEL's Director of Motorway Operations said: " I am delighted to support the RTTW again this year by way of providing free passage for all motorcyclists exiting at T4 on the M6toll on Saturday morning. As in previous years, this is a spectacular sight! Saturday is forecast to be a fine day and I sure that this years' event will raise much deserved funds for the National Memorial Arboretum which is a unique tribute to all those who have given their lives in the service of their country. I would urge all other M6toll road users to 'Think Bike' and check their mirrors before changing lanes due to the large number of motorcyclists expected on the day".

Martin Dickinson, Founder of Ride to the Wall added: “On behalf of the committee and all the volunteers that make Ride to the Wall such a special and moving event I would like to thank Midland Expressway for their continued support.” For details of starting locations and times, and other information about the event, official merchandise and the National Memorial Arboretum, visit the RTTW website - www.rttw.org.uk.
