M6toll fund special needs bike for Cannock playground

Midland Expressway Limited (MEL); operators of the M6toll are proud to provide funds to SNAP (Special Needs Adventure Playground), in Cannock for a new disability bike.

SNAP, which has been running since June 2003, is a facility complete with outdoor adventure play equipment including a multi-sensory room providing a lifeline to families in Staffordshire who have children with special needs and disabilities, in addition to this they are also open for adults with special needs.

MEL’s Social Committee received a funding request from SNAP in relation to the poor condition of their specially adapted bikes.

Karen Johnstone, MEL Social Committee Member said, "SNAP is a fantastic charity offering the chance for children with special needs to enjoy both outdoor and indoor activities which they would be unable to access anywhere else. MEL’s Social Committee strongly believe in supporting local charities. I was very proud to champion this very worthy cause and hope our donation towards a specially adapted bike will allow the children to enjoy the outside area even more.”

Carole Turner, volunteer at SNAP said, “The new bike will make a massive difference to our young adults who access our facilities here at SNAP. We have a bicycle track in our adventure playground and many young adults will have the opportunity to ride this new bike. We cannot wait to see the look on their faces when they see the new bike. We would like to send many thanks to the M6toll for funding a brand new bike for our service users"

This donation forms part of a wider initiative to support local charities and community projects.

MEL's Social Committee will be working closely with members of staff to choose those community projects close to their hearts which will benefit from a donation from the remaining £20,000 Drive for Charity fund over the next 12 months.
