M6toll help steer Shropshire & Staffordshire Blood Bikes in the right direction!

Despite the wintery conditions the Shropshire and Staffordshire Blood Bikes (SSBB) visited M6toll staff at their head office in Weeford this week and were presented with a cheque for £350.

Nigel and Helen Bundy, along with Nigel's blood bike "'Elsa" and their mini moto "Elron" were greeted by Midland Expressway Limited (MEL) Social Committee members and presented with their cheque to fund a satellite navigation system for one of the group bikes.

SSBB is an emergency volunteer service providing transportation of life saving medical supplies to NHS hospitals across Shropshire and Staffordshire. The charity launched in 2014 and is now active from Burton NHS Trust and more recently, the University Hospitals of North Midlands including the Royal Stoke Hospital and County Hospital, Stafford.

Karen Johnstone, MEL Social Committee member said: "As a member of MEL's Social Committee we are keen to support local causes and we are very proud to support SSBB in recognition of the life-saving service they provide in the region.  Being a motorcycle enthusiast myself, SSBB are close to my own heart and I wish them every success for the future."

Helen Bundy, SSBB Controller added:   "Thank you to all at the M6toll. We are so very grateful for their support and we are proud to know that they support our endeavours. These pieces of equipment are vital to us as we expand our services across the two counties to new hospitals requiring our help."

MEL's Social Committee will be working closely with members of staff to choose those community projects close to their hearts which will benefit from a donation from the remaining £20,000 Drive for Charity fund over the next 12 months.

MEL's Social Committee is always on the lookout for local charities and community projects to support. To register your charity or community project with MEL for consideration to receive fundraising or practical (volunteering) support now or in the future visit www.m6toll.co.uk for further information or telephone 0870 850 6222.
