Things look bright for local football ground thanks to M6toll

Staff from Midland Expressway Ltd (MEL) visited Keys Park this week to provide Hednesford Town FC Supporters Association with a donation which was desperately needed to improve the supporters experience at the ground.

MEL operators of the M6toll proudly presented Scott Smith, Chairman of Hednesford Town FC Supporters Association with a cheque for £1,000 to improve the lighting both around the ground and on the approach to the Stadium. The current lighting is over 20 years old and the Supporters Association are very keen to improve the lighting in the spectator areas in order to make it more welcoming and friendly to those using the ground.

Scott Smith said ““We are so grateful to Midland Expressway Ltd for providing such a generous donation, this funding will help brighten up some areas of Keys Park that are currently very dark due to them being in an area with no floodlights. Our support base consists of many Hednesford residents and we feel that these improvements will increase their overall enjoyment of the facility and provide a better match day atmosphere. ”

Karen Johnstone, MEL Social Committee Member added: “It was lovely to meet Scott and hear about Hednesford Town FC Supporters Association and the support it provides to the Club. I think our donation will make a real difference to the facility and improve the match day experience for the local community who support and visit Keys Park”.

Each year, MEL donates £50,000 through its Drive for Charity project. MEL's Social Committee works closely with members of staff to choose community projects close to their hearts which will benefit from a donation from the Drive for Charity fund.

MEL's Social Committee is always looking for local charities and community projects to support. To register your charity or community project with MEL for consideration to receive fundraising or practical (volunteering) support now or in the future visit for further information or email
