M6toll supports local charity 'every child deserves toplay'

Staff from Midland Expressway Ltd (MEL) visited Newlife Foundation in Cannock this week after providing funding for much needed specialist toys for local children with disabilities.

MEL (operators of the M6toll) recently donated £1,000 to enable Newlife Foundation to purchase two new baby and infant Play Therapy Pods.

Newlife is the UK's largest charity funder of children's specialist disability equipment. They also run the UK's only national emergency equipment service, for terminally ill children. One of the many services they provide includes the free loan of specialist developmental toys to families who have children with disabilities or terminal illness. These Play Therapy pods take into account the child’s age, size and ability.

Chris Fielding, Deputy Community Fundraising Manager at Newlife said “We are delighted to have the support of Midland Expressway Ltd. At Newlife we believe that children’s needs should be considered holistically and that play should not be side lined at the expense of care needs. With MEL’s support we can now loan out more Play Therapy Pods which have proved a great success with parents. This equipment will make a huge difference to the families of local disabled children”.

Paul Parry, Systems Maintenance Manager at MEL said: “It was a pleasure to meet members of the Newlife team and learn more about the services they provide to many local families. Hopefully our donation will go some way towards supporting their strapline of 'Together, we will make life better' allowing children to have fun whilst improving their confidence and development.

Each year, MEL donates £50,000 through its Drive for Charity project. MEL's Social Committee works closely with members of staff to choose community projects close to their hearts which will benefit from a donation from the Drive for Charity fund.

MEL's Social Committee is always looking for local charities and community projects to support. To register your charity or community project with MEL for consideration to receive fundraising or practical (volunteering) support now or in the future visit www.m6toll.co.uk/community/driveforcharity for further information or email d4c@m6toll.co.uk
