M6toll helps future Olympic Stars on their journey!

Staff from Midland Expressway Ltd (MEL) were visited by two Olympic Archery hopefuls recently after providing them with free passage on the M6toll for a year, allowing them to travel to the GB Archery Academy in Lilleshall stress free.

MEL are proud to offer their support to Luca Jaques aged 13 from Yorkshire and Joshua Smith aged 11 from Solihull who have both shown great determination and dedication to Archery for over 2 years earning them a place at the GB Archery Olympic Talent Performance Academy in Lilleshall. The support from MEL will ensure both families can make two trips a week for a year on the M6toll, making the journey to and from training reliable and stress free.

The GB Archery Academy programme aims to support the development of athletes through an environment of sporting and professional excellence. The development of athletes' physical, mental and technical performance attributes are key themes within their programmes, enabling Britain's future archers, such as Luca & Joshua to maximise their talents leading ultimately to medal success at senior international championships.

Luca said; "I feel very privileged to have been given sponsorship in the form of a Tag from Midland Expressway Ltd. It will make a huge difference and will make travelling to training and competitions so much easier. Thank you very much."

Joshua added: “I would like to thank the Midland Expressway Ltd team for supporting and helping me to get to my coaching sessions, enabling me to work towards my goal of representing my country at the 2024 Olympics as the UK's youngest archer.”

MEL’s donation forms part of a wider initiative to support local schools and community projects. MEL's Social Committee work closely with members of staff to choose those community projects close to their hearts which will benefit from a donation from the Drive for Charity fund.

MEL's Social Committee is always on the lookout for local charities and community projects to support.
