March 2004

Tom Fanning, Managing Director of Midland Expressway Limited comments on a 6% increase in traffic figures for March.

"We have seen an increase of over 6% in our traffic figures this month with a peak exceeding 53,000 vehicles which is most pleasing. We have always believed that it would take time for drivers' patterns to adapt and while it's still early days we are encouraged by the steady month on month increases since January. Indeed our March figures show a 29.2% uplift on our January volumes. We look forward to providing motorists with a freeflowing alternative over, what we expect will be, a very busy Easter weekend for Britain's roads."
