Despite poor weather conditions in January, strong traffic growth in February and March resulted in positive traffic growth for the March 2010 quarter.

Traffic on the M6toll increased by 4.0% in the March quarter compared to pcp.

Traffic during the March 2010 quarter was impacted by poor weather conditions. The period negatively impacted by weather was in January 2010 (15 days from 1 to 15 January 2010) whereas February 2009 was similarly affected but for a shorter period (7 days from 2 to 8 February 2009). Adjusting for the weather-affected days during the March 2010 quarter, traffic growth would have been 5.5% over pcp.

In March 2010, a new toll schedule came into effect. The headline toll rate for cars using mainline toll plazas on weekdays increased from £4.70 to £5.00. There was no change to toll rates during nights and weekends or on ramp plazas.
