Midland Expressway Ltd (MEL) today reported the average daily traffic figures for January to March 2017

We are delighted to report strong traffic growth in quarter 1 of 2017 with overall traffic growth of 6.9% over the same period in 2016 and average daily traffic across all days and traffic types of 44,942 vs 42,045 in 2016.  Our commercial vehicle traffic* growth continued to be very strong within these numbers and was up by 25.2% over the same period in 2016 with average daily traffic at 5,848 vs 4,774.  Traffic grew on both weekend days (up by 2.3%) and workdays (up by 6.3%) with the stronger growth in weekdays reflecting the increased congestion observed on the M6 during the quarter, especially during peak hours, and the northbound roadworks on the M6 at Rushall Canal Bridge throughout most of March.
