Systems Maintenance Manager

M6toll have a vacancy for the role of Systems Maintenance Manager. Reporting directly to the IT & Systems Director, you will be in charge of technical issues, along with daily coordination of a team of skilled maintenance staff and external contractors; who maintain our tolling system (signs, coin machines, card machines, barriers, point of sale equipment), computers, CCTV, intercom and all other technical systems used on the M6 toll road.

You will need to be able to coordinate maintenance activities with other departments, ensure that operations are continuous and that departmental targets are met. You will be expected to be proactive in your planning to best utilise resources.

The job is essentially based at our Head Office in Weeford. However you will spend a considerable time at our toll stations and be expected to work some weekend shifts, along with being on a call out rota.

Practical experience and a good knowledge of computer control, electronics, electrical supply and mechanics is essential, along with excellent computer skills. Demonstrable experience of the daily man-management of a team of 10 or more technically skilled staff, external contractors control and liaison with other internal departments is important. We would expect suitable candidates to possess at least a HNC in Electrical Engineering or similar, although emphasis will be placed on demonstrable technical and management experience.

Must have own transport due to location and a full driving licence is essential. The role will require criminal records check clearance.  You will be required to adhere to the Company dress code and Alcohol & Drugs policy.

Toll Assistant - Maternity leave cover; 12 month contract - Averaging 37.5 hours per week

You will be the friendly face of the M6 toll, assisting customers in our toll lanes. You will need to have worked in a face to face customer service role, where you will have had responsibility for balancing volumes of cash accurately; and meeting set targets.

You will need to be reliable and flexible; with experience of working alone, as well as working within a team. A customer service related qualification would be an advantage.

The role involves travelling to either of our 2 mainline toll plazas. You should live within a 15 mile radius of our Head Office based at Weeford near Lichfield.

You will be required to work a mixture of early, day and late shifts; weekends; Bank Holidays, including Christmas Day; averaging 8 hour shifts on a varied rota.

You should have a full driving licence and your own transport.

The role requires Criminal Records Check clearance.

You are required to adhere to Company dress code and Alcohol & Drugs policies.

General Operative

We are recruiting a General Operative to join our experienced teams maintaining the M6 toll road to the high standards our customers deserve. You will be responsible for carrying out routine highway maintenance as well as assisting our customers and the emergency services.

You will ideally have experience of motorway or trunk roads maintenance: knowledge of traffic management is also desirable.

The position is based on an average of 42 hours per week; 12 hour night shifts (4 on, 4 off), including weekends and Bank Holidays.

You must have a full driving licence and your own transport. HGV licence preferable.

The role requires Criminal Records Check clearance.

Systems Maintenance Technician

We are looking to recruit a Technician to join our Systems team, who are responsible for the maintenance, repair and development of all systems used to operate the M6Toll road.

Whilst part of a small team, the role frequently involves working on own initiative to perform proactive planned maintenance and reactive maintenance on a diverse range of systems used for the daily operation of the M6Toll.

Suitable candidates will possess a formal qualification in an electronics / electrical discipline (ONC / C&G level 3 or equivalent) and be able to demonstrate hands on maintenance and fault finding experience of electrical / automation systems. Candidates will also be expected to be fully IT literate and have experience of working with Windows 7 OS.

Full training will be given, however a working knowledge of some of the following would be advantageous.

  1.  Computer control (RS232 Serial comms, interface equipment)
  2.  CCTV (Analogue & IP)
  3.  Electrical distribution (MCB, RCD, UPS’s)
  4.  Electromechanical devices (barriers, card/coin machines)

The position is based on an average of 40 hours per week; working shifts, including weekends / Bank Holidays and will involve some “on call” during winter months.

You must have a full driving licence as you will be expected to drive Company vehicles when on shift.

The role requires Criminal Records Check clearance.
