MEL's Social Committee have chosen to support the following local community projects in recent years:

Special Needs Adventure Playground, Cannock: £500 towards arts and craft materials

Troop Aid: £480 for Royal Fleet Auxiliary Grab Bags

1200 Polesworth RAF Cadets: £600 towards tour of WW! battlefields

Ladybugs Trust: £500 towards specialist clothing

Edwards Trust: £1,000 towards 'Coffee, Cake and Chat' support group for bereaved families

£500 towards storage container

Good Hope Hospital Charity:
 £500 towards refurbishment of Children's Outpatient Department

: £800 towards safety fencing project

Chasewater Railway- £1,000 towards new canopy project

Burton Prostate Cancer Support Group - £500 towards groups running costs

Silent Child Film -£500 towards the films production cost

GB Archery Academy Students: Free Passage on the M6toll for 1 year to travel to GB Archery Academy in Lilleshall 

Royal British Legion Battle Back Centre:
 £1,100 to fund specialised bike for centre  

Lichfield Nomads Cricket Club: £1,000 to purchase a BOLA machine

Hospital Radio Stafford: £500 to fund two new computers

Cakes4Casualties: £500 to part-fund cakes for injured servicemen/women and their families at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham

Cancer Support Centre (Sutton Coldfield): £750 to cover the costs of running their popular weekly meditation classes

Tamworth Spartans Ladies National Volleyball League:£2,500 sponsorship for new branded kit and special match-day equipment

Mongol Rally: £1,000 sponsorship 

Hednesford Town PC Supporters Association: £1,000 to improve the lighting at Keys Park

Newlife Foundation: £1,000 to purchase two baby and infant Play Therapy Pods



Kath the Cake Lady / Cakes4Casualties: £400 to purchase a new fridge

Cats Whiskers: £500 towards running costs

Heath Hayes FC: Free Passage for the team for a selected number of games

John Taylor Hospice:  £1,000 towards their Bereavement Club expansion

Ivan Poole: £500 towards his Sahara Desert trek raising funds for Katherine House Hospice

Violets in Bloom: £1,000 donation towards fundraising for a children's memorial garden at Lichfield Crematorium

Burntwood & District Community First Responders: £500 donation together with an M6toll tag granting free use of the M6toll

St Anne's Church, Burntwood: £1,000 donation towards church repairs

Boldmere under 7's Football Club: £500 sponsorship towards new kits, jackets and training equipment for the whole team

XLM Tamworth: £500 to youth mentoring project

Skydive for Stephen Sutton: £500 towards the ‘Skydive for Stephen’ for Teenage Cancer Trust

Lichfield Riding for the Disabled: £500 towards their new facilities at Coton House Farm Riding Stables

Hednesford Schoolgirl Lucy Atkins:£500 to fund and erect a purpose built cabin to house her adapted trike

Netherstowe School: £500 towards new equipment needed for their Autism Resource Base

Staffordshire Search & Rescue Team: £432 to fund two essential casualty care medical bags

Queens Croft School: £500 towards equipment for their Vocational Centre café

Tamworth Swimming Club: sponsors of Tamworth Amateur Swimming club's annual gala presentation evening

Tamworth Olympics Gymnastics Club: £500 towards specialist gymnastic equipment

Shropshire & Staffordshire Blood Bikes: £350 to fund a satellite navigation system for one of the group bikes

St John Ambulance: £500 to buy an automated external defibrillator (AED) for use at public events

Lichfield Swimming Club: £620 for new kits and swimming hats for their Grand Final

Rosedene Rescue Centre: £500 donation towards running costs

Gentleshaw Wildlife Centre: £1000 donation towards the build of their avaries

Starlands St. Annes U16's: £656 for the teams raincoats

Twycross Zoo: £1000 towards the automated feeders for the Gibbon enclosure

Canwell Village Hall: £450 towards their much needed defibrillator and casing

Burntwood Girl Guides: £250 donation towards outdoor activities for the Senior Section

SNAP: £622 for specially adapted bike 

Wilnecote Unicorns Football Club£870 for kit sponsorship

First Responders: Pre-paid tags for all local first responder vehicles
