Drive for Charity

MEL hosted a fundraising event and fun day on Friday 8th August at Roadchef Norton Canes, located between junctions T6 and T7 on the M6toll. As part of the event, MEL gave Acorns Children's Hospice, The Guide Dogs and Troop Aid £10,000 each from the day's net toll revenue together with a further £20,000 which is to be allocated to support local community based projects.

MEL's nominated charities 2014-2015

Acorns Children's Hospice: Providing palliative care for those children with life limiting or life threatening illnesses and their families.

Troop Aid: Providing much needed basic essentials to our injured service men and women and support for their families.

The Guide Dogs: Providing breeding, training and provision of guide dogs and assistance to the blind or partially sighted.

Midlands Air Ambulance: Providing first class life saving care to patients across the six counties we cover, by ensuring they reach the most appropriate Trauma Centre for their needs within the Golden Hour. MEL have been proud supporters of Midlands Air Ambulance since road opening in 2003, having donated over £200,000.

Community Based Projects

MEL's Social Committee have chosen to support the following local community projects:-

Violets in Bloom: £500 donation towards fundraising for a children's memorial garden at Lichfield Crematorium

Burntwood & District Community First Responders: £500 donation together with an M6toll tag granting free use of the M6toll

St Anne's Church, Burntwood: £1,000 donation towards church repairs
