Get a Tag – Save Money!

Tags are the M6 Toll's electronic payment system. They're the easiest, most efficient way to pay, allowing you to pass through a toll lane, usually without the need to stop. Plus you save money on every trip you make by having a Tag.

For a monthly lease fee of just 50 pence per Tag you can benefit from a 5% discount per trip. For regular users the savings soon mount up.

A Tag is attached to your windscreen. It includes a microchip that is automatically read as you enter the toll lane. Providing there is credit in your account, the toll barrier will rise, a green light will appear and you can proceed without delay. Should your credit be running low, a blue light at the barrier will warn you.

Each time your Tag is read it sends information to a database updating your account. Details such as when and where you used the M6 Toll will only be available to the account holder, with statements, including VAT, available online, 24hrs a day. Invaluable information, especially for fleet managers and business motorists. Details are updated every working day so you'll never be late filing your expenses or keeping track of your trips. On your statement day (normally the 28th of every month) we calculate all the savings you've made over your statement period and show them at the end of your statement so you can see just how much you are saving every month. Don't worry if you don't see the saving per trip, we add them all up and total them for you so all the savings appear together at the end. You just need to open your account with a balance of £30 or more and we'll send you your Tag(s) in around 10 working days.

Tag users can also use the Wide Load Lane at our main Toll Plazas at Weeford Park (southbound) and Great Wyrley (northbound). At our local plazas please look out for the Tag symbol above the lanes.

Opening a Tag account

Opening a Tag account is very easy. Order your Tag here or, if you prefer, call our Customer Services team on 0870 850 6262 between 08.30 and 17.00 Monday-Thursday and 08.30 and 16.30 Fridays. For all other general enquiries we're available from 08.30 to 17.30 Monday to Thursday and 08.30 to 17.00 Fridays.

Terms & conditions of use of the electronic Tags.

Using a Tag will allow you to

• Save 5% per trip
• Manage an M6 Toll Tag account through our Customer Services team or online
• Cruise through toll lanes, usually without needing to stop
• Use the road without worrying about having the correct change or keeping all your receipts for expense purposes
• Have all your latest M6 Toll Tag transactions and statements detailing all your trips, including VAT, online. You just use your username and password to log in and access your details. If you require a postal statement an adminstration fee of £2 per month will be charged to your account

Tag in a Box - class 2 vehicles only

You can also purchase a fully operational Tag from our Motorway Service Area (MSA) at Norton Canes. All you need to do is pop into the petrol station or the Restore shop in the MSA and you'll find everything you need to get on the road — in a box!

The box costs £35, including a £5 refundable deposit when you activate your account with us. The box comes with a Tag (that has £30 of credit already on it), a bracket, a screen wipe and a Tag User Guide which includes details about how to fully activate your account. An account number is already allocated to you when you buy the Tag in a Box, all you need to do is fill out your details on the application form, send it us and we'll activate your full account immediately. It's just like a pay as you go phone; you tell us how much you want your account topped up with (minimum £30) and every time your credit reaches zero we automatically take the amount from your debit or credit card. It means that you don't have to wait for your Tag to be posted out to you, you just buy the Tag in a Box and away you go on the road!

Please note that you do not get a discount with a Tag in a Box. Only when you open an account can you get the discounts and make savings.

If you decide not to activate your account, the Tag will no longer work after you have used your credit or the credit has run low. However, please return the Tag to us and you'll still receive your £5 deposit back plus any unused credit.
