As winter approaches, the M6toll is proud to announce that its comprehensive winter readiness programme is in full swing—ensuring the motorway remains safe, reliable, and resilient for up to 50,000 drivers who rely on it daily.
With over 1,200 tonnes of road salt delivered—equivalent to more than 40 articulated lorry loads—and an additional 58 tonnes of white salt stocked for brine tanks, the M6toll is fully equipped to tackle frost, ice, and snow. To maintain optimal performance, 1,000 tonnes of existing salt have been rotated and refreshed to prevent clumping and hardening, ensuring immediate usability.
All winter maintenance vehicles and snow ploughs have completed their summer servicing and are primed for deployment. Refresher training is underway for operatives and duty officers, reinforcing the readiness of frontline teams.
