If you have an M6toll account, we have some important changes to our Terms & Conditions

Here’s what you need to know:

Statement date change: You’ll now receive your statement for the previous calendar month on the second of the month, making it easier to keep track of your account.  If you need to download statements from 2023 or earlier, you’ll need to get in touch. Otherwise simply log into your account to view or download your transactions.

Low Balance Auto-Top Up: To make sure you always have enough money in your M6toll account to make a journey, auto top-up will request the agreed payment from your debit/credit card company (minimum £30) when your balance falls below £15. You’ll receive a notification to keep you informed.  If we cannot obtain payment after a period of 7 days following repeated attempts, your account will be temporarily suspended until you add the appropriate funds. If you fail to clear the debt, your account may be closed.

Pre-pay Direct Debit: If your balance falls into the low or no credit range, the new system will automatically attempt to draw a Direct Debit to keep your account up-to-date.

Since opening to traffic in 2003, the M6toll has proudly served over 300 million customers.

Up to 65,000 people a day now choose our stress-free route, helping to ease the pressure on the congested M6 and regional road network.

To mark our 20-year milestone, we’re investing £20 million in a package of improvements to improve your drive – and ensure we’re fit for the next 20 years.

Quicker through the toll lanes

We’re installing new Automatic Numberplate Recognition (ANPR) cameras in every lane. They’re super quick, so if you’ve signed-up for a pre-pay account, you’ll be able to breeze through without stopping. That means free-flowing traffic through the toll plazas, even at the busiest times.

More ways to pay

At last! We’ll be able to accept smartphone and smartwatch payments, thanks to a change of legislation and brand new contactless readers. It’ll be the only time you’re allowed to use your phone while driving, and it will have a big impact on keeping traffic flowing through the toll plazas.

Simpler account management

We’re upgrading our systems to make it simpler, easier and quicker to open and manage your account. And thanks to ANPR technology, you’ll also be able to add and remove vehicles at the touch of a button: just click and go.

Personalised discounts

Our ANPR system will let us know – for the first time – where you join and where you leave M6toll. This information will help us develop a range of products and discounts suited to the journeys people are actually making – and help us encourage more people to use us for local as well as long distance trips. Keep an eye out for big changes in the spring!

….And a brand new look

Our fresh new identity follows our recent integration into the Aleatica family – a smart, safe, sustainable mobility company dedicated to operating transport infrastructure across Latin America and Europe. You’ll start to see more of our new brand over the coming months as we roll out our upgrade programme. Keep an eye out for our refreshed toll booths early in 2024!
