Tips for Winter Driving
Ensure tyres are properly inflated and have sufficient tread.
Top up screen wash with anti-freeze solution.
Check battery health and lights.

- Check traffic and weather updates before you travel.
- Keep your fuel tank at least half full.

- Keep your distance: Stopping distances can be up to ten times longer in icy conditions.
- Drive smoothly: Avoid sudden braking or acceleration.
- Use dipped headlights in poor visibility.

How Grit Keeps You Safe in Winter
Grit is one of the simplest but most effective tools we use to help keep roads safe. Unlike salt, grit doesn’t melt ice – it works by giving your tyres extra grip when the surface is slippery.
For grit to do its job, it needs the right conditions. A light layer of frost, snow, or ice helps it stick to the road. If the road looks clear and dry, you may not notice the grit straight away, but rest assured – it’s already there, ready to work once the weather turns.
So even if you don’t see it, the grit is in place, waiting to provide that extra traction when you need it most.
