Driving Community Wellbeing: M6toll Supports Phoenix Dementia Support Group’s Initiatives
Midland Expressway Limited (MEL), operators of the M6toll, are proud to support Phoenix Dementia Support Group through their “In the Community” funding programme, reinforcing their commitment to supporting local communities and promoting mental health and wellbeing.
The M6toll has provided funding to support the Phoenix Dementia Support Group’s programme of inclusive events, activities, and trips designed to enhance mental wellbeing and create meaningful, lasting memories for those living with Dementia and Alzheimer’s, as well as their carers.
This initiative focuses on reducing isolation and fostering connection by offering safe, supportive environments where individuals can reconnect with themselves and others. Through shared experiences such as day trips, social gatherings, and creative activities, participants are given opportunities to build confidence, regain a sense of purpose, and feel part of a community.
The programme also provides vital support for carers, enabling them to share experiences, learn from one another, and access peer support. These interactions are key to helping carers feel understood while offering emotional relief.
Phoenix Dementia Support Group who are based in North Warwickshire, directly address the challenges faced by those affected by Dementia and Alzheimer’s by promoting dignity, inclusion, and understanding. Each activity creates a space where individuals are valued for who they are, rather than defined by their condition.
Jo Brett, External Communications Assistant at MEL, said:
“It was a real pleasure to visit the Phoenix Dementia Support Group and see first-hand the incredible impact they have, not only on those living with Dementia and Alzheimer’s, but also on their carers and families. A diagnosis like this can be extremely challenging, both for the individual and for the families who take on caring responsibilities. It was clear that everyone involved sees the group as one big family, a place to share joyful moments and create lasting memories, but also somewhere they can talk openly about their experiences in an environment where they feel comfortable, supported and understood. We’re honoured to be able to support such a wonderful and truly valuable group.”
Phil Knight, Chair of the Phoenix Dementia Support Group, added:
“We are incredibly grateful to M6Toll for their generous funding, which enables us to support people living with Alzheimer’s as well as their carers. This contribution makes a meaningful difference, helping us provide vital support, understanding, and a sense of community to everyone affected.”
With the support of the M6toll, Phoenix Dementia Support Group can continue to deliver these vital initiatives, helping ensure that no one feels alone or forgotten while promoting positive mental health and wellbeing outcomes for all involved.
