Hauliers and logistic operators using the M6toll enjoy a reduced journey time of almost a quarter compared to the M6, according to the Microlise independent report.
Based on safety, reliability and number of journeys metrics, the Microlise data science team used advanced analytical skills to provide reporting rigour around the benefits of using the M6toll for commercial fleet operators.
Furthermore, the study found that vehicles using the M6toll experienced 39 times fewer harsh braking events than the M6. This is a key benefit for businesses as harsh braking negatively affects fuel economy and increases the cost of vehicle repair and maintenance, all of which will directly affect operational costs.
Sarah Gourlay, M6toll Senior Account Manager, said: “The Microlise study analysed millions of journeys involving vehicles weighing 7.5 tonnes and set against the metrics of safety, welfare, reliability, and efficiency.
“The results provide compelling evidence of the operational benefits for hauliers, logistics companies and other commercial operators of using the M6toll compared to the M6 – with time savings and smooth, hassle-free journeys among the key business efficiencies.
“M6toll also supports businesses with attractive product trials, bespoke pricing and incentives for new HGV customers that continue to make it an attractive and viable alternative to more congested routes in the regional road network.”
The Microlise team also assessed the time savings for a business running a fleet of 100 vehicles that regularly uses the M6toll. They calculated that a fleet operation of this size would on average save around 25 minutes a day or 49 workdays a year on the M6toll, compared to using the M6 for equivalent journeys.
