Motorway Operative (Apprentice)
Full Time Average 42 hours per week. (4 on 4 off working pattern, 2 days, 2-night shift- 12-hour shifts)
Salary circa, 27,500k per annum.
About the Opportunity.
Midland Expressway Limited are looking to recruit a permanent, reliable Motorway Operative Apprentice into their Motorway Operations Team. You will join our experienced team maintaining the M6 toll road to the high standards our customers deserve.
The role will be responsible to the Asset Operations Manager for ensuring the Motorway is maintained to the highest level in terms of usage, quality, and safety. This role is predominantly outdoors.
Key tasks and activities are:
- To carry out routine maintenance activities on the road using the appropriate plant equipment and materials, which include long periods of litter picking.
- To carry out traffic management operations.
- To carry out safety fence repairs.
- To carry out winter maintenance.
- To work effectively with subcontractors.
- Provide direct assistance to the travelling public. On-site liaison with emergency services, as part of an Incident Support Unit.
- Safety: To be able to always work in a safe manner.
- Equipment: Responsible for specific day-to-day plant and equipment checks and safe operation
- To provide call out / stand-by as required.
- Any other duties associated with this position.

Essential skills:
- Good understanding of health and safety legislation.
- Full Driving Licence
Desirable: skills:
- HGV C Licence (Class 2)
